Support

Shoebill is an iPhone app that reads public posts from Mastodon, Bluesky, Hacker News, Lemmy and Lobsters and shows them as one ranked feed.

Contact

Email icebreakermint10@gmail.com. It is read by a person, and reports of content are answered within 24 hours.

Inside the app, Settings, Support, Contact support opens mail to the same address with your app version already filled in.

How to report a post

Every post and every account has a Report action in the overflow menu — the three dots at the top right of a post.

How to block, mute and filter

All of this works while you are signed out, because it is stored on your phone. When you connect a Mastodon account, blocks also apply to that server's own block list.

How to sign in and sign out

You never need to sign in to read. To post, reply, like, repost or follow, go to Settings, Accounts and connect a Mastodon or Bluesky account you already have.

How to delete what the app has stored

Everything the app remembers is on your phone. Nothing is uploaded, so there is nothing to request from us.

The full detail is on the privacy page.

Beta feedback

The fastest way to send something during the beta: take a screenshot while the app is open, then open TestFlight and tap Share Beta Feedback. The screenshot, your note and the device details come through together.

If something adult, violent or otherwise ugly gets past the filters, that is the highest-priority bug in the app — send it with a screenshot if you can, or email the address above.

Common questions

Which iPhones does it run on?

iPhone running iOS 17 or later. It is iPhone-only for now.

The feed is empty or will not refresh.

The app talks to the public APIs directly from your phone, so a captive Wi-Fi portal, a VPN or a corporate network can block it. Try cellular data. If a single network is failing, its posts drop out and the rest of the feed carries on.

Why is a post labelled with a network I did not choose?

Every post carries the name of the network it came from. The feed merges Mastodon, Bluesky, Hacker News, Lemmy and Lobsters, along with posts that Threads, Pixelfed and Flipboard accounts share to the fediverse.

Can I delete a post I made?

Posts you make belong to the account you connected, on that account's own server. Delete it from the post's overflow menu in Shoebill, or from any other client signed in to the same account.

Does it cost anything?

No. Shoebill is free, has no ads and has no in-app purchases.
